At first sight the variety of shades of green is amazing wherever you look, giving the visitors an attractive panorama that is revitalizing and bursting with life. You can observe open forests abundant in coihue, lenga, radal, hazels, olivillo, beech, myrtle generally in these sectors you can find abundant vegetation such as Chilean rhubarb, enormous ferns, and island moss-a type of moss that, as the ferns do, give shade and humidity to these forests. In the high mountain range the presence of millenarian woods of monkey-puzzle trees dominate the landscape that it stands out for its odd rigid constitution and height. Speaking of the associated wild fauna, it is possible to see eagles, foxes, and pumas, in the high mountain, in less high sectors there are many queltehues, or southern lapwings, also known as treiles, the bandurrias and wild duck that share the marshes and lagoons with coipos and in some areas with black necked swans. More hidden away and difficult to find is the male woodpecker that is recognizable for its intense red color on its head or the black woodpecker, which is the female of the species. It is easier to hear them in the middle of woods next to the beautiful chirping of zorzales or chucaos among many other species RECOMENDED SITES Quillelhue lagoon - Villarrica Park In this area you can appreciate a great variety of birds, especially during the autumn. Also in this area the "Coipo" can be found. Trancura Delta The delta of the river Trancura on Lake Villarrica is an excellent place for bird watching of aquatic birds. Huerquehue Park The presence of monkey puzzle trees is one of the main attractions of this park. With patience and a little luck you can hear and see a woodpecker, besides ducks in the lagoons.
