This beautiful village, whose architecture is mainly wood-built, is prominent for the harmony and good state the buildings are kept in and the tendency towards the mountaineer-style. As you walk through its streets you can see the characteristic style of city sign posts carved in wood, that next to the commercial sign posts of the same material and decorated with volcanic sand, give downtown Pucon a distinctive feel.

O'Higgins is the main road where all the basic services can be found, such as the government offices, tourist information offices, carabineros (policemen), fire department, shopping galleries, chocolate shops, three banks, currency exchange, pharmacies, supermarket, tour operators and tourist agencies, among others.

For some special reason, most of the gastronomical offer is concentrated on Fresia street. Especially during the summer, tables, chairs and tablecloths decorate the road along from O'Higgins to the main square of Pucon, where you can find traditional pastry, sushi, Uruguayan grills, Italian food, and even the most exquisite criollo food.

We also recommend visiting other peripheral streets around downtown Pucon, where you can always find more modest restaurants with varied menus worth tasting, at a more affordable price. You will also find other attractions such as craftwork shops where the Mapuche culture is displayed in weaving and jewelry among other traditional souvenirs such as wooden flowers, figurative carvings and leather craft work

In front of the main square is the church (founded in 1967), the Itur institute of tourism, the Gran Hotel Pucon, Hotel Huincahue and some time this year the 5 star hotel being rebuilt after the incident of the late 17th of September 2007. In front of the construction site is the temporary games Casino. From the same street, Ansorena, you have access to the beach of Pucon, or else you may walk in the opposite direction towards the volcano where at the end of the street and up the hill you will find the monastery of the Clarissa sisters. From there you have a spectacular panoramic view of the whole city.

Don't miss the summer sunsets from La Poza, located a couple of blocks away from the center or from the beach. Riding along the cycleway, drawn in the international road, you can get a feel of the locals' daily life.
